A 10,000ft Overview

Today’s aspiring cloud CFD-ist has a multitude of options when it comes to getting started. I’m thinking of SimScale & The Ubercloud Marketplace as two standout, but very different, approaches to making a quickstart in the cloud. They weren’t around when I started & besides, I had delusions of building my own commercial offering. So I rolled my own cloud CFD solution. Tested it. Evolved it. Re-Rolled it. And now it’s the backbone of all my CFD consultancy projects.

I haven’t written much about how I do CFD since I declared my love for OpenFOAM — but this could be the start of putting that right.

It could be the start of a series of more detailed articles on the different stages & nuances involved in doing CFD in the cloud. Or…it could be the end of the series if it’s not that popular — who knows?

So here’s a 10,000ft view of a typical CFD run — from idea to client feedback.
