On Mentorship

Hey there,

It’s Robin from CFD Engine & I’ve been thinking about mentorship recently, specifically how I might pay forward some of the help I received in the early days.

I was lucky enough to start my career somewhere that had experienced engineers, an established CFD process & low expectations of its juniors.

It pretty much boiled down to “follow the process, ask questions & don’t hog the TGrid licenses”

The process provided guard rails which (mostly) avoided any expensive mistakes & the low expectations meant that your questions could be “stupid” & they still got a proper answer.

The old heads helped the juniors level-up & the juniors brought fresh (& occasionally good) ideas that helped the old heads be more productive. Win-Win.

I’d probably be one of those old heads now (albeit a grumpy one) paying my dues & stealing the good ideas 🤫

But I’m not an old head at CFD Engine, I’m the only head, which got me thinking…

If I’m a couple of steps further down the CFD path & you want a hand figuring something out, or you want to bounce an idea around, or get a second opinion, then I’m here for it.

Hit reply & tell me about it.

Don’t make it too technical, but if there’s something you think I can help with, then I’m happy to try. There are no stupid questions – but there may be some stupid answers 😉

We’re all Googling error messages & asking similar questions, but I’m happy to help out where I can.

This is a genuine offer – hit reply & try me.

Until next week, stay safe 🙏
